Safer and more comfortable

Safer and more comfortable

The authorities of Badung Regency (Kuta, Legian, Canggu, Uluwatu) want to make the coast as accessible and safe as possible for walking. Badung Regent Wayan Adi Arnawa was inspired by the example of Australia's Gold Coast with its wide promenades and convenient pedestrian areas.

In Kuta, there are plans to build a pedestrian route from Pantai Jerman to the north so that tourists can walk and exercise along the beach. The work is expected to be completed by 2026.

In addition to new sidewalks, shade from the heat and improved street lighting for evening walks are planned. Breakwaters are also already being built in Kuta to protect the coast from erosion.

Special attention will be paid to the areas of Cema, Pererenan and Berawa in Canggu. The regent emphasised that the infrastructure should be comfortable not only for tourists but also for local residents who use the beaches for religious ceremonies such as melasti.

The authorities acknowledge that traffic jams in Kuta are becoming increasingly serious. Therefore, along with the improvement of the embankments, a comprehensive overhaul of the transport system is planned so that tourists can enjoy their holidays without unnecessary stress.
