Nusa Penida now among the world's most protected marine areas (PSSA)

Nusa Penida now among the world's most protected marine areas (PSSA)

This new status puts the waters of Nusa Penida on par with the Galapagos and the Great Barrier Reef (only 18 regions in the world have this status).

The waters around Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan are now under control: shipping will be regulated, and the ecosystem will be protected from overfishing and pollution.

These waters are known for their inhabitants - manta rays and sunfish (mola mola), and their protection is a key step in preserving biodiversity.

To enjoy an encounter with these majestic creatures, tourists can visit specially designated areas, following the rules: do not touch the animals, do not feed them, do not use flash, do not step on the corals and keep a safe distance - 3 m for manta rays and 5 m for mola mola.
