Indonesia Tops Gastronomy

In the updated Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2026 ranking, two establishments from Indonesia have earned recognition from experts and secured spots among the continent’s finest. One of them is Locavore NXT in Bali, created by the renowned culinary duo Elke Plasmeijer and Ray Adriansyah. This project builds on the success of their original Locavore restaurant in Ubud, which has previously received numerous prestigious awards. The concept of Locavore NXT is rooted in extreme locality: ingredients, beverages, and even alcohol are produced from local sources, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability and organic gastronomy.

The second Indonesian entry is August, located in Jakarta’s SCBD business district. The restaurant has maintained its position on the list for the second consecutive year. Its kitchen is led by chef Hans Christian, who emphasizes the diversity of culinary traditions across Indonesia’s many islands, presenting them through a modern and creative lens.

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking is considered one of the most authoritative in the hospitality industry and is often referred to as the “Oscars” of the restaurant world.
