Bali will become cleaner

The new decree of the Governor of Bali officially came into effect on April 11, 2025. It concerns everyone: from hotel owners to market sellers. The goal is to clean the island of garbage and force businesses to take responsibility for waste.

What is changing:

• Businesses are required to sort waste on site: organic, inorganic (violators will have their licenses revoked)
• It is prohibited to produce and sell water in plastic bottles up to 1 liter
• Single-use plastic is prohibited - forget about the usual bottles, straws, packaging.
• 636 villages and 1,500 banjars are included in the separate collection system: organic, inorganic, residues.
• A waste incineration plant is being built in Gianyar because the old landfills are simply full.

All participants must adapt by January 1, 2026 - then mass inspections will begin.
