Chinese Tourism Boom

In May 2025, China and Indonesia signed a memorandum of cooperation in the tourism sector, which has already started delivering tangible results. According to official statistics, the number of Chinese tourists grew by 52% in 2024 — reaching 1.19 million visitors. This growth came amid a broader surge in international arrivals to Indonesia, which totaled 13.9 million last year.

The memorandum includes initiatives such as joint promotion of tourism destinations, information exchange, the opening of new tourism offices, language training programs for staff, and a supportive framework for tour operators. The agreement marks a significant step in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations.

According to projections from Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, the number of Chinese visitors could multiply by 2030 — becoming a key economic driver, especially for Bali. The rising tourist flow is already boosting the rental and property markets, with increasing demand for short-term rentals and growing investor interest in new developments.

For those considering Bali as an investment destination, now is the ideal moment: ready-built complexes with proven returns are already operating, and the flow of international visitors continues to rise steadily.
