Visas Extended for Tourists Stranded in Bali

Authorities in Bali have decided to support foreign tourists who were unable to leave the island after several international flights were cancelled. The flight disruptions are linked to the closure of parts of the airspace over the Persian Gulf amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
At least 16 flights departing from Ngurah Rai International Airport were cancelled, including routes to Qatar, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. As a result, hundreds of passengers were forced to remain on the island longer than planned.
Airport immigration officials stated that foreign visitors whose visas are expiring or have already expired due to the flight cancellations will receive assistance. Authorities are prepared to extend their stay without applying the usual penalties to ensure tourists do not violate Indonesia’s immigration regulations. Normally, overstaying a visa in Indonesia results in a fine of about $65 per day.
Travelers who need to leave urgently are advised to consider alternative routes, such as flights through China or neighboring Asian countries, where air traffic continues to operate without restrictions.
